Filmed on location in the artist's Manhattan studio, Rosalyn, who overcame paralysis and blindness from Guillain-Barre Syndrome, delivers a memorable and uplifting portrait of a life lived for art and love.

Breakfast and Impromptu Beginnings

It all began at a breakfast just off of 32nd Street, NYC, before attending a conference. Next to my table and my plate of Eggs Benedict was a woman with the broadest smile I'd seen all week. Across from her, her husband. We began a conversation. These things happen over breakfast in crowded touristy restaurants. And from the first, the talk was as easy as long friendship.

It was the first time I'd met Rosalyn Engelman, and I knew it would not be the last. She had asked me what I was doing in New York. I told her I was attending the conference and had just launched a new career as a filmmaker. She said, "you should do a film on me!" She was joking, but I could see that that was exactly what I was going to do. 

It took several years to start work on our short film. But when we were ready, so was she. And the process has continued steadily ever since. 

We have now launched Rosalyn Engelman: The Color Of Memory, the result of a few short days spent with her in her studio, watching her work and capturing her thoughts and imagination. We are very pleased to now share this film with the world.
